Women may be nominated for awards in recognition of significant contributions made in the areas of Second Amendment advocacy, education, volunteerism, and hunting and shooting sports activities. The Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award is for service at the national level while the Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award honors service at the local, state and regional levels. The deadline for nominations is November 1, 2009.

Just a year ago, heavy rains forced Wisconsin's Lake Delton over its banks destroying five homes, a stretch of highway and a resource that attracted many tourists. Not long after, Lake Delton Fisheries Restoration Project (LDFRP) co-founders Ben Hobbins and Dan Small swung into action to restore the lake.

Oklahomans wanting to learn about the outdoors should mark their calendars for the fifth annual Oklahoma Wildlife Expo, slated for Sept. 25-27 at the Lazy E Arena, just north of Oklahoma City. Scholarships
Easton Sports Development Foundation and the National Field Archery Association Foundation are pleased to announce the archery scholarship recipients for 2009. Total scholarships of $20,000 were awarded to 20 student athletes in middle school, high school and college that compete with either compound or recurve bows. Each summer, approximately 3,000 beluga whales migrate from the Arctic to the relatively warmer waters of the southwest Hudson Bay and its river estuaries where they feed and birth calves. TERIYAKI RIBS

From Hi Mountain Seasonings

* 2 racks (6 lbs) spare ribs (prepared as below)
* 1 side of ribs, backbone removed, sawn horizontally into 3 inch wide portions
* 1 medium onion, quartered
* 2 cloves garlic
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 celery top
* 1 t. thyme
* 1/4 t. freshly ground pepper

Place in large pot barely covered with cold water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered 40-45 minutes. Drain and cool.

* 1 c. chicken stock
* 1/2 c. soy sauce
* 1/2 c. honey
* 1/2 c. white vinegar
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 T. fresh grated ginger
* 1 t. Hi Mountain Hickory Burger Seasoning

Combine remaining ingredients. Place ribs in large zip-top bag and pour in the marinade. Refrigerate for 3 hours, turning occasionally. Remove ribs from marinade and roast 375 F for about 45 minutes, basting frequently with reserved marinade.

Serves 6.
